Passing Traffic

Oct 3.

My first attempt at capturing the light trails of traffic in Adare. I managed to catch a bus in this one, but the whole thing is a little too busy for my liking – with the street lights and signs. I’m going to be trying this again a few times (until I get it right) – next time it’ll be from a height.

I’m turning a corner…

Sep 20.

I don’t mean I’m turning a corner in my life… I mean literally driving around a corner at Punches Cross, here in Limerick. The camera was mounted on a superclamp with double ball head, on the roof rail of the five. I actually can’t claim this one as my own, because technically Kev pressed the button! I did have an input (the camera, mount, car, diesel and driver), but Kev took the photo.

Unfortunately this has given me a taste for rig shots… if anyone feels like donating some money to the fund, you know how to contact me!And if anyone has a spare 10-20mm lens going cheap – I know of a good home for it!! 😉

Thanks to Kev for the advice and generally putting expensive bad ideas in my head!

A picture of the five in the car park at work… which apparently we are not allowed to park in. Yeah, I do like to live on the edge alright.

XK-120

Aug 12.

If Top Gear are to be believed, the car that this particular badge is attached to (a Jaguar XK-120) was the first real “Supercar” of it’s day.

The badge reveals a little bit of information about Jaguar’s racing heritige… I was curious so I did a little bit of digging. As it happens, Jaguar won at Le Mans in 1951 and 1953 with the Competition version of this car – the XK-120c (victory in 1952 was taken by Mercedes with the beautiful 300SL).

I took this at the Phoenix Park Races, where it was being raced! I’m only sorry I didn’t get to see it in action and that I didn’t get a few more shots of the car itself.

Preparation for the Park

Aug 8.

Working on the M3 to get it ready for the park, I noticed the sun shining in the window of the garage on one of the dusty wheels. Yes, I really really do carry my camera everywhere with me.

A Massey is Classy…

… but a Zetor is better. A phrase that Síofra often says for some unknown reason. I managed to get a shot of the two in one place at one time! Excuse the over-processed look of this one.

A Lancia Delta HF Integrale… sure, it’s not very pretty. But it goes like stink! What a car, What a history.

Have a quick look at the video for a quick glimpse of where this car came from… Lancia Delta S4 Tribute

And for anyone that may be interested. This class of rallying is called Group B was established in 1982 by the FIA. Due to a number of major crashes resulting in fatalities, the class was shut down a few years later. Audi Mechanics at the time used to have the disgusting task of removing spectators severed fingers from the air intakes and panel gaps of the Audi Group B Quattros. At the time there was little or no crowd control and spectators used to try to touch the cars as they passed by. Have a look at this to see what I mean (no severed fingers): Walter Rohrl – Group B Audi Quattro

Reflecting on a Triumph

May 25.

A reflection of a Triumph in the hub cap of a Jensen (possibly an interceptor… it was so ugly I didn’t bother walking around the back to find out what model it was).

Happy May Day!?!

With the help of my niece, Azra, I washed my car yesterday evening and decided to take a few photos for an assignment on boards. I ran around the car with two torches – one Halogen, one LED to light the car up (hence the patchy looking paint work).

Trouble for me that is. With an estimated 320hp, this is one quick civic. Who knows what it will make on it’s next Dyno outing.
