This spider was on a roll of toilet paper – in fact it very nearly came to a rather dirty, smelly end (if you know what I mean). Anyway, this is a little blurry due to the razor sharp depth of field of my cheating-at-macro setup. But you can see two tiny little eyes on the top of it’s body – cool. Filing this one under “Phew! That was a close one” and “Nature”. 🙂

Lyrics:
flicka flicka flicka
here you are
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl
flowing in
and filling up my hopeless heart
oh never never go
dust my lemon lies
with powder pink and sweet
the day i stop
is the day you change
and fly away from me
you flicker
and you’re beautiful
you glow inside my head
you hold me hypnotized
i’m mesmerized
your flames
the flames that kiss me dead
oh dust my lemon lies
with powder pink and sweet
the day i stop
is the day you change
and fly away from me
flicka flicka flicka
here you are
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl
flowing in
and filling up my hopeless heart
oh never never go
dust my lemon lies
with powder pink and sweet
the day i stop
is the day you change
and fly away
away from me
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl
cata cata cata
cata cata cata
caterpillar girl

A very friendly dog called Seán Bán (or so Gary informs me) lying on the foot path waiting for attention while we were walking down the street on the Adare leg of the Worldwide Photowalk 2009

This is no ordinary fly… it’s a tiny tiny fly. It was just a theeveen** under 2mm long. I took this using the 75mm-300mm with a reversing ring and my 50mm on the end. The depth of field is extremely shallow, but that might be because I’m doing something wrong. I’ll just need to take some time and play around with the setup a little. This is the quick and dirty approach to Macro Photography, anyone considering giving it a go, you’ll need to get your hands on a decent “real” macro lens.
**I may not have spelled it correctly, but for anyone wondering what a Theeveen is: “A theeveen is the smallest unit of measurement known to man” – Eanna Carroll, 2007.

This poser just lay there taking in all the attention. Not one bit scared of me.

This moth was on the outside of the window by my desk in work. The photo was originally taken against a dark cloudy sky, I’ve dropped the contrast and raised the brightness so you can see the details in it’s wings a little better. I’d love to try some macro photography (proper), but I don’t think there is an inexpensive way of doing it well!

Don’t look at this one SÃofra (Poor SÃ has serious issues with Snails and Slugs). Mr. & Mrs. Slow set up camp for the night.

Sheba takes a quick nap in the evening sun.

Should have used a smaller aperature for this one.

Sheba shakes herself dry after a quick dip in the stream.

Sheba bounding around the garden. She was in great form today – very playful. I’ll be experimenting with this type of shot again soon. Not a fantastic photo by any stretch – just liked the action.

Ned (not his official name, just one I gave him), eventually got sick of my jokes and stuck his tongue out at me before he ran over to the other side of the field.
