Another Wintery shot taken on Christmas morning 2010. I’m noticing a trend starting here – time for a change of topic and I have to stop shooting into the sun!

Taken very early on Christmas Day while walking around in Adare, Co. Limerick. The low, early morning Winter Sun burst through the frost covered trees casting long shadows.

So, it’s time to move on – 381 photos later and I want to head in a new direction with the blog. So, like the people at Park Avenue, I’m moving my business across the street to denishogan.ie. Please do subscribe to my new RSS Feed.

This is very similar to the previous shot – I couldn’t make up my mind which I preferred, so I posted both. This was also taken yesterday in Curraghchase.

Ok, the poem is actually called “The road not taken” by Robert Frost, 1916.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Another shot from the trip to Curraghchase yesterday. It was so cold, so still, so peaceful… well, not that peaceful, Sí was giving out about her backside after that trip down the hill on the fertilizer bag!

What a year. I can’t believe I’ve actually done it! I haven’t always managed to take a photo each day, but I have one photo for every day in 2009.

I don’t think the quality of my photos has improved very much, but I learned more in 2009 than I have since I left college. Most definitely worth the time and effort.

Thank you all for keeping an eye on the blog and for all of your comments. Thanks to everyone in the Limerick Camera Club who gave me advice since I joined in September.

Thanks to my family and friends for putting up with me and my “having” to take photos all the time. Particular thanks to my parents and Síofra – without whose patience there wouldn’t have made it past day five!

Finally, a huge thank you to Kevin. It was Kevin’s work that prompted me to learn about photography in the first place. He gave me a serious amount of time, help, advice, knowledge, encouragement and inspiration. I owe you lots of pints!

You’d swear I was accepting an Oscar or something. But you all need to be thanked!

It’s not all over  – I will still be posting photos here, but not as regularly. I will take a break for a few weeks and then get cracking on the next project.

About the photo:
I know it’s a cheesy last photo – but it shows the first photos I had printed since getting the DSLR – all from 2009! You can see two of my three regular lenses (18-55mm and 75-300mm). And a raffle ticket (No. 365) in there too. I picked it out one night at a club meeting a few months back. I’ve been holding onto it with this shot in mind!

Today was supposed to be the end of this little 365 project – unfortunately two good friends lost family members during the year and it didn’t seem right to post at the time. For this reason, I have two more days to go before I will have a full 365 photos. Check back soon!

The night started out as a poker night – although only one game was played. We moved onto a game of Death Air Hockey. Both knocked out in the first round, Kevin and Gary decided to toast each other on their loss. With the chink of glass, there was a splash of beer – the bottom fell out of Gary’s bottle! After officials cleaned the Air Hockey table – play resumed. Kevin’s fiancee, Edel, went on to win the tournament.

A very late – but great night – thanks to all for coming along!
