Painting the Five

Jan 22.

This is the last shot in the series. Again, this is a six second exposure, but this time I was using a small BMW torch out of the glove box.

This is a slightly abstract shot – a six second exposure taken in the dark. I used a mini-maglite as the light source. I also zoomed out during the shot. I’d be tempted to try this again using a few different light sources.

///M for Muddy

Jan 20.

Another shot of the car – this time it’s one of the BMW Motorsport (///M) branded sill protectors (kick plates to you and me). I was getting out of the car and just happened to be thinking what a state it was in. This shot prompted me to take a series of other shots of the car, which I will post over the next day or two.

This is one of the four side lights on my car. I was just experimenting but when I examined the photo later, I found lots of interesting patterns and reflections, so I said I’d post it.

The first page of my favourite book – The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. Another depth of field shot.

Mmmm, Beer

Jan 16.

I haven’t actually wanted a drink since I gave it up on Dec. 28th. But tonight I would love one. So I decided to do the next best thing – take a photo of it. Nothing remarkable here – just wanted to get the hang of the whole Depth of Field thing. Hard to tell in this image, but I think I nailed it!

The Most of the Moon

Jan 14.

Took this in Adare last night – the moon was huge. I decided I was going to stay there until I got a decent shot of the moon. And after a bit of playing around, I got a series of colour and monochrome photos – but this monochrome photo is my favourite. Make sure you view the largest possible copy of this one – you can see craters in pretty good detail. I haven’t been able to get “The whole of the moon” by The Waterboys out of my head since. Maybe I should change this to a photo and a song a day.

Crosstown Traffic

Jan 13.

I intended to capture a bit of motion on my daily comute, but the sport is a bit too hard on the road. The camera is on the tripod, on the passenger seat with the timer on. It’s not edited – it just worked out like this with the ever so slight bumps on the road. And since the title was inspired by Jimi:

Lyrics:

“Youre just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I dont need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And Im tryin to get on the other side of town”

We had a full moon this morning – hiding behind a few clouds and the house next door.

… well, the engine behind the current hillclimb champion. The photo is black and white because the engine is ancient! 😛
